Men’s Basketball: Potomac State holds off Hagerstown

Michael Barnett scored 27 points, Justin Milstead had 15 points and six assists and Potomac State overcame a subpar shooting night at the free-throw line and 11 Hagerstown three-point goals for a 79-72 victory Wednesday evening at Potomac State.

Barnett, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard, made 10 field goals and 7 of 9 free throws for Potomac State. Mequan Carrington had 13 points and six rebounds and Malcolm Weathers added eight points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Catamounts (7-2), who built a 42-28 halftime lead.

Brandon Cheeks kept Hagerstown (4-5) in it with 30 points and six three-point goals.

The game was the final one of the month for the Catamounts, who don’t play again until they host the Southern Virginia jayvees on Jan. 12.
