Men’s Basketball: Potomac State turns back Northern Virginia

Justin Milstead scores 21, helps Catamounts hold on for 75-68 victory

SPRINGFIELD, Va. — Justin Milstead scored a game-high 21 points and helped Potomac State create some distance in the final minutes of a 75-68 win over Northern Virginia Monday evening.

Milstead was one of three Catamounts to score in double figures and was joined by BJ Hill with 17 points and Nequan Carrington with 14.

The Cats led by three with two minutes to play when Milstead drove the land for a bucket that pushed the lead to five points and gave PSC some breathing room.

That came, though, after Potomac State allowed NOVA back into the contention midway through the second half, which has been a concern for Cats head coach Justin Anderson.

“We need to do a better job down the stretch of controlling our possessions. I know that is something that will come with time, but we are still learning when to pass the ball and and when to shoot it. We aren’t always making the smart play at the moment.”

NOVA’s leading scorer was Jordan Jones with 19 points, while Wesley Haradawy and Tariq Felder each scored 12.
