Men’s Basketball: Niagara tops Potomac State in overtime

SANBORN, N.Y. — Jamal Pollypore scored 25 points and hit four three-point goals, and Fausto Pichard added 23 points to lift Niagara County to an 87-83 overtime win over Potomac State in college men’s basketball Sunday afternoon.

Justin Milstead had 21 points, J.R. Kerr 15 points, Nequan Carrington 12 points and 12 rebounds, Malcolm Weathers 11 points and Michael Barnett 10 for the Catamounts (5-2), who rallied from 15 points down in the second half to force overtime.

Potomac State erased the 15-point deficit with Kerr hit three-pointer from the corner with 1:10 left in regulation that tied the game. Niagara went up 76-74 with a pair of free throws, and B.J. Hill’s driving layup with seven seconds left sent the game into overtime.

Niagara (5-2) led during most of the extra period, but a Weathers three-pointer tied it with 1:20 to play, and a foul shot by Damani Morris-Eddy tied it again later.

The Thunder Wolves took the lead for good with a seven-point spurt.

Potomac State will host New River Community College of Virginia on Dec. 3.
