Record Breaking Day for Catamount Harriers

Youngwood, PA- The Potomac State Cross Country Teams traveled to the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg for the Aaron Slafka Memorial XC Invitational.

The men ranked #10 nationally in the latest NJCAA DIII polls were led by Freshman Zac Simmons (Berkeley Springs, WV) with a school record time of 28:25 over the 8 kilometer course. Simmons performance earned him a spot on the podium as he placed 10th overall out of 71 competitors. The Keyser, WV trio followed Simmons closely as they ran in a pack with Pierce Miller 30:08 (24th), Josh Myers 30:16 (26th), and Wesley Minshall 30:48 (28th). Rounding out the top 5 scorers was Dennis Brown (Pikesville, MD) in 41st with a time of 35:34. Theil's Steve Morgan won the individual title with a time of 26:51.

Penn State Altoona won the 13 team invitational with a score of 50. Potomac State finished 5th overall with 129 points behind Penn State Altoona, Pitt Johnstown, Frostburg and Theil. Hankins stated, "I was proud with the way our men ran. These results show that we deserved our national ranking. Simmons ran a terrific race running with the lead pack and our 2nd through 4th man ran nicely in a pack which will set us up nicely as we prepare for the regional championship."

Potomac State is back in action on Friday, October 10th at the Eastern Mennonite Relays in Elkton, VA.
