Cross Country: Catamounts place 5th at Shenandoah Valley Invitational

Elkton, VA- The Catamount Harriers were back in action this weekend at the Shenandoah Valley Invitational, a 10 team invitational consisting of two NCAA D3 Nationally ranked teams (Bridgewater and Eastern Mennonite) and several NCAA D3 southeast regionally ranked teams.  

Eastern Mennonite won the team title led by Ryan Gehman's individual Championship.  Potomac State held their own and remained competitive by placing 5th overall with 145 points. Zac Simmons led the way for the Catamounts with a school record performance of 22:56 good enough for 27th place.  Rounding out our top 5 scorers were Pierce Miller (37th), Josh Myers (50th), Jordan Minshall (52nd) and Zach Green (61st).  Head Cross Country Coach Ian Hankins stated, "I was proud with the way our men ran. We ran with the best of the best in NCAA nationally ranked teams and are really progressing as a group as we prepare for the championship meets in October."  

Eastern Mennonite swept the top 5 places earning the team title in a perfect score with Breanna Newton winning in 19:27.  Lenae Cole led the way for the Catamount women with her 48th place finish in a time of 24:17. "Lenae had another excellent showing with her second best time as she battled through a minor injury, but still managed to remain consistent with how she has been running this year." Coach Hankins said. 

The Catamount Cross Country teams are back in action Saturday, October 4th at the University of Pitt-Greenberg Invitational in Youngwood, PA.
