Men's Lacrosse: Catamount Fall Schedule Full of NCAA Teams

The Potomac State College Men’s Lacrosse team released its 2016 fall schedule highlighted with 5 NCAA teams.

“Our goal here is to prepare the guys to go on to play and continue their careers and education at the NCAA level,” said head coach Josh Seese. “Scheduling is part of that process and the marketing of the team as well as gauging our progress throughout Fall Ball as we prepare for our spring season.”

The Catamounts open their fall slate by traveling to Hampton, Virginia to play Division 1 Hampton University on October 1st at 1 p.m. The Pirates, who begin their second year at the NCAA level, are the first Historically Black College and University since Morgan State University in the 1980s to have varsity lacrosse. “We are pumped to travel to such an historic institution and be part of the growth of the game of lacrosse,” Seese stated.

The Catamounts will return home to host West Virginia University’s club team on Thursday, October 6th at 7 p.m. on the turf at Stayman Field. The Catamounts will return the favor by traveling to Morgantown on October 20th  to finish out their fall season against the Mountaineers. The following Sunday, October 9th, the team travels to Hood College in Fredrick, Md. to participate in a play day with Hood, Alderson Broaddus University (Philippi, WV.), and Wesley College (Dover, DE.). All proceeds from the event will be donated directly to the  Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund..

On October 15th the team travels to Elkins to battle in-state Davis & Elkins College Senators at 7 p.m., preceded by the Lady Cats women’s lacrosse team against D&E at 5 p.m.

The Catamounts, who suspended their 2016 season in an effort to rebuild, have over 30 student-athletes on the fall roster to begin practice. Follow the team on Twitter @PSCMLAX.
