Potomac State Men's Soccer falls 1-0 to CSM

LA PLATA , MD— Tyler Ross scored an unassisted goal in the second half to lead No. 20 College of Southern Maryland to a 1-0 win over Potomac State Saturday.

Playing its first junior college of the season in its fourth game, the Catamounts got 18 saves from Conner Fungaroli to help keep the score close.

Though the Cats were outpaced in shots 25-11, Potomac State’s final shot banged off the crossbar with four seconds remaining to miss a shot at a tie.

Fungaroli, Northern’s Steve Holtschneider, Zach Saylor of Mountain Ridge and Colin Holowach were all cited by head coach Ray Kiddy for their defensive performances.

Southern Maryland improves to 4-0 after entering the week ranked 20th in the NJCAA Division National Poll. Potomac State drops to 3-1 after opening the season with three wins over four-year colleges. The Catamounts will play at Lord Fairfax at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
