Potomac State remains unbeaten with 9-0 win

KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac State College remained undefeated with a nine-goal onslaught in blanking Blue Ridge College 9-0 at Stayman Field.

Brandon Lee, who began the day seventh in the nation among NJCAA Division III players in goals scored, had three goals, including the first one at 43:50 on an assist by Derek Swanson in building a 4-0 halftime lead. Jerad Fike, Eric Szymanski and Michael Santucci scored the next three goals, with David Gogishvili assisting Fike’s.

In the second half, Chris Ranker scored first before Lee scored twice more, and then Shaquille Guiseppi and Jake Benford concluded the scoring to make it 9-0. Gogishvili and Ranker had the second-half assists.

Potomac State outshot Blue Ridge, 18-2, and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Potomac State goalkeepers Connor Eberly and Rosemberth Lopez split the shutout. Joseph Glick had a pair of saves for Blue Ridge.

Potomac State (12-0-2 overall, 5-0-1 in Region XX) will play in-region today, at 4 p.m., at Howard.
