Ninth-Ranked Catamounts pounce on Pioneers 2-1
Potomac State enters Region XX Tournament as No. 2 seed
ARNOLD, MD — Brandon Lee scored two more goals and Potomac State celebrated its national ranking by ending the regular season with a 2-1 victory over Anne Arundel Wednesday afternoon in junior college men’s soccer.
Potomac State, 14-1-2, moved into the NJCAA Division III top 10 poll for the first time in head coach Ray Kiddy’s four seasons. The Catamounts are No. 9 this week. Lee, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, is also nationally ranked. He is third in the nation in goals scored, and now has 26 for the season.
Lee scored in each half against Anne Arundel. The first came at the 9:47 mark of the first half on an assist from Gabriel Kiddy. The second came at the 31:50 mark of the second half on a feed from Caleb Goodin that made it 2-0.
Hector Aruizo converted a penalty kick later in the half for Anne Arundel.
Potomac State led in shots 10-5 and in corner kicks 7-2. Conner Eberly made four saves in goal for the Catamounts, and Ross Harris had four for the Pioneers.
Potomac State is the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Region XX Tournament and will play in a 3 p.m. semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 31, at Prince Georges. Montgomery, ranked
