Brandon Lee’s hat trick helped Potomac State construct a 5-0 lead over Northern Virginia and the Catamounts cruised to a 5-1 win Monday to remain undefeated in a meeting of Region XX opponents.
Lee scored twice in the opening half, netting the first goal at 17:25 on an assist from Jerad Fike and the second on an assist from Shaquille Guiseppi. Gabe Kiddy scored an unassisted goal 10:50 into play, and Guiseppi scored the final goal of the first half 21 seconds after assisting on Lee’s second goal.
Chris Ranker assisted Lee at 27:38 of the second half to close out scoring for the Cats.
Abdel Alnimiry scored an unassisted goal for Northern Virginia with 24:16 left to play.
The score was wider than what the other statistics would imply as NOVA trailed PSC in shots by only two (12- 10) and finished tied in corner kicks (4-4). The 5-0-1 Catamounts are now 3-0-1 in the Region XX and will play Wednesday, 4:30, at Blue Ridge.
