Campbell helps Potomac State roll over Blue Ridge

KEYSER, W.V. — Austin Campbell scored two goals and assisted on two others and Potomac State scored six times in the second half for a 9-1 win over Blue Ridge Community College on Wednesday at Stayman Field.

Campbell assisted on the final two goals of the first half and then scored both of his goals in the second half. Leo Sanchez made it 1-0 when he was assisted by Austin Parker and Brandon Lee was assisted by Campbell at 20:47 to make it 2-0. Campbell assisted Parker at 24:31 to give the Catamounts (7-0) a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Lee entered Wednesday as the second-leading goal and point scorer in NJCAA Division III. He now has 19 goals and 40 points.

Ryan Mowrey kicked off PSC’s scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal before Campbell scored two of the next three. Sanchez scored his second goal in between Campbell’s, and Brett Vanderhout scored the final two to bring the score to 9-1.

Brandon Jones also had two assists for the Catamounts and Jake Benford finished with one.

Alec Sproule made one save in the first half as Potomac State’s goalie, while Chris Orwig had one in the second half.

The Catamounts play again today at Lord Fairfax at 5 p.m. and on Friday, 3 p.m., at Northern Virginia.
