Men’s Soccer: Lee’s hat trick leads Catamounts past Cecil

KEYSER, W.V. — Brandon Lee recorded a hat trick and Potomac State scored three times in the second half to pull away from Cecil for a 5-1 win Friday at Stayman Field.

Cecil made the first move when Dan Wardman scored unassisted with 29:30 gone in the first half. Lee responded with consecutive goals at 38:22 and 41:50. Lee’s first goal was assisted by Zach Lease and the second was unassisted.

Brett Vanderhout assisted Leo Sanchez 16 minutes into the second half. Vanderhout would also score the final goal with 1:20 remaining. Lee collected his hat trick in between with Austin Campbell assisting him with 8:50 remaining.

Alec Sproule had three saves for the Catamounts and Kyle Calderelli had six saves in the loss.

“This is the first time we’ve had a fully healthy team in a while and it showed,” Ray Kiddy, Potomac State head coach, said. “Now that we got everybody back at 100 percent we hope to finish the last five games strong to get ready for the postseason.”

Potomac State (10-4) plays at Frederick on Monday at 4 p.m.
