Men’s Soccer: Catamounts earn fourth shutout; improve to 5-0

NORTH EAST, Pa. — Brandon Lee scored a pair of first half goals and the defense posted is fourth shutout of the season as Potomac State remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win over Mercyhurst North East in college men’s soccer Saturday afternoon.

Lee scored an unassisted goal 11 minutes into the match, then made it 2-0 by scoring on a feed from Eric Szymanski in the 30th minute.

“It was a good, physical game, one that will help get us ready for Region XX play,’’ said Potomac State coach Ray Kiddy. “Mercyhurst is a Division I JUCO team. It was a good win for us.”

Goalkeeper Alex Sproule made seven saves in the shutout for the Catamounts (5-0), who have outscored their five opponents by a 25-2 margin.

Potomac State led in shots 11-7 and both teams had seven corner kicks. Craig Martin had seven saves in goal for the Saints (5-2-1).
