Lee returns; Northern Virginia defeats Catamounts, 2-1

KEYSER, W.V. — Potomac State got one of the top scorers in the nation back but the Catamounts continued to struggle on offense and suffered their third consecutive loss, 2-1, Tuesday against Northern Virginia.

Tyler Jones scored 8:39 into the first half to give Northern Virginia a 1-0 lead, and Omar Lopez scored five minutes in to the second to make it 2-0.

Brandon Lee, who is second in NJCAA Division III with 19 goals, scored with 27 minutes left for Potomac State. It was the first goal the Catamounts had scored after being shut out for five straight halves. Lee has missed the last three games with an ankle injury.

Josh Bostick-Clarke made two saves in goal for Potomac State in place of injured Alex Sproule, and Chris Owig made two saves in the win.

Since beginning the season 8-0, Potomac State has lost three games since Friday. The Cats lost 1-0 at NOVA on Friday and 1-0 to Anne Arundel on Saturday. PSC (8-3) plays at Christendom Friday at 4 p.m.

Northern Virginia started the season 0-6 before winning the last two games, both against the Catamounts.
