Men’s Soccer: Strong second-half surge leads PSC

LONGWOOD, Pa. — Potomac State scored nine second-half goals, with Brandon Lee finishing the day with four as the Catamounts broke a 1-1 halftime lead to defeat Westmoreland County Community College in junior college men’s soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

Lee put the Catamounts on the board first at 28:30, before Westmoreland’s Troy Brown tied the score at 40:50.

Ryan Mowrey then opened the second half with two straight goals at 45:40 and 59:27, the first assisted by Eric Szymanski, and the second one by Lee. Lee then scored the next two goals at 60:30 and 61:40, the second one assisted by Brett Vanderhout.

Pat Kimble followed with an unassisted goal for Potomac State at 62:20, followed by goals from Austin Campbell, Szymanski on an assist by Lee, Lee again and Leo Sanchez, the final two being unassisted.

Potomac State outshot Westmoreland, 25-5, and had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Adam Poloney had 14 saves for Westmoreland, while Alec Sproule and Chris Orwig both had two saves for the Catamounts.

Potomac State (4-0 overall, 2-0 Region XX) will play at Mercyhurst Northeast on Saturday at 1 p.m.
