Men’s Soccer: Sproule named to NJCAA 1st Team All-America Team

Alec Sproule

For the second straight season Potomac State Men’s Soccer has had a player named NJCAA Division III First Team All-American.  Sophomore Alec Sproule’s stellar season manning the goal for the Catamounts was good enough to claim the award.

Sproule joins Brandon Lee, who was named 1st team last season for Potomac State College.

Sproule, who hails from Umina, Australia, gave up 16 goals in fifteen games this past season for a goals against average of just 1.92.

In all, the Aussie had 70 saves for the Catamounts who finished the 2015 campaign with a, 8-7 record.  Sproule had over ten saves in four different games.

Potomac State Head Coach Ray Kiddy praised his sophomore’s effort:

“Alec is well deserving of this honor.  His work ethic and enthusiasm for the game are unmatched.  I am very proud of him.”

Kiddy continued,"Alec, was captain of our team this year and showed great leadership.  He led us to 8-7 record in 2015 and 11-8 in 2014.  In 2015 he had four new starters in front of him and he did an excellent job only giving up 16 goals.  I think that is what grabbed every coaches attention around the country."

Kiddy was also quick to applaud the effort of Goalkeeping Coach Connor Eberly who worked with Sproule daily to hone his game.
