Men’s Soccer: Catamounts draw even with Lord Fairfax

FRONT ROYAL, Va. — After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, Rhys Fing scored twice for Potomac State, leading the Catamounts to a 2-2 tie against Lord Fairfax on Tuesday afternoon.

Jose Hernandez scored both goals for the Lions, unassisted, at the 3:10 and nine-minute marks in the first half.

Fing put Potomac State on the board 12 minutes into the second half on an assist from Corey McKay. His second goal came four minutes and six seconds later via a Beau Horner assist.

The Catamounts (4-4-2) led in shots, 15-12, and each team had four corner kicks. Caleb Ryan made eight saves in goal for Potomac State. Lord Fairfax goalkeeper Anthony Rese finished with seven stops.

The Catamounts are enjoying a good run of form, losing just one of their last six games (4-1-1 during that span). They will host Howard on Friday, 4 p.m., as they pick back up Region 20 play.
