Women’s Basketball:Potomac State rallies to beat ACM

Davis, Parks total 25 points in 63-60 win over Trojans

CUMBERLAND — Potomac State battled back from a 13-point second-half deficit to defeat Allegany College of Maryland, 63-60, Thursday night in Maryland JUCO action at Bob Kirk Arena.

Courtney Davis led the Catamounts with 13 points, while Antwanye Parks scored 12 points and Leah Hershberger and Kirsten Rayner had eight apiece.

Potomac State’s biggest weapon was its rebounding, and the Cats needed it. PSC shot just 26.7 percent from the floor (24 for 90), but gathered 52 rebounds, 29 on the offensive end alone, to make up for the poor shooting.

Rayner and Hannah Horne, both from Garrett County, led the team with eight rebounds each, Lindsie Linaburg and Antwanye’ Parks grabbed seven apiece.

Allegany was led by Gina Rievel with 28 points. Rievel hit five three-point goals and five two-pointers. Courtney Landis scored 19 points and Kayla Hutson scored nine.

Potomac State led, 29-26, at the half before falling behind by 10, then mounting the comeback to win the game.

Potomac State (11-2) hosts CCAC South Sunday at noon. Allegany (3-13) will play Saturday, 5 p.m., at Frederick.
