Potomac State claims WPCC Conference Championship

Youngwood, Pa. — Leah Hershberger helped Potomac State College defeat Westmoreland Community College 69-59 Tuesday evening at Westmoreland to capture the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championship.

Hershberger scored a team-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Potomac State (19-4, 8-0 Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference) held a 35-29 halftime lead over the Wolfpack, although they did trail for a brief period in the second half. The Catamounts never trailed by more than three points at any time in the game, however. Chelsea Keyser scored eight points and had six rebounds.

Westmoreland was led by Shalia Williams’ 17 points.

Potomac State will play Saturday at home against Northern Virgina Community College beginning at 1 p.m.
