Women’s Basketball: Hagerstown too much for Potomac State

HAGERSTOWN, MD— Hagerstown Community College led by 15 at halftime and prevented Potomac State College from catching up in the second half to hand the Catamounts their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon 70-52.

Alyssa Berry scored 23 points, Olivia Turner added 13 and Jaz Spruill finished with 10 as the Hawks built a 35-20 lead at halftime and added another seven points to the advantage in the second half.

Potomac State was paced by Lexi Carr’s 14 points. The 2013 Times-News Co-Player of the Year last year at Keyser, Carr also had four assists and two steals. Antwanye’ Parks had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds and Chelsea Keyser had eight points. Elizabeth Mills contributed seven points and five rebounds.

The Catamounts (2-1) play their home opener Tuesday against the College of Southern Maryland.
