Women’s Basketball: Buzzer-beater hands PSC its 1st loss, 62-61

MCHENRY, MD— Anna Valerie- Odom couldn’t have picked a better time to score her only points, sinking a three-pointer from the corner as time expired to lift Niagara to a 62-61 win over Potomac State at the David K. Martin Legacy Showcase at Garrett College.

The Catamounts had just gone ahead 61-59 after Lexi Carr converted one-of-two at the foul line with 4.2 seconds left. The Thunderwolves called a timeout to advance the ball ahead to their bench, and got a toss into Odom for the game-winner to hold the final lead in the back-and-forth battle.

The score was close from tip to horn with Niagara holding a 16-11 lead after one quarter and a 32-30 advantage at halftime. The Cats forced a 41-all tie by the close of the third.

Carr scored a game-high 24 points and led PSC with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Courtney Davis and Kenyatta Butler both added 14 points, with Davis adding seven rebounds and two steals, and Butler grabbing six rebounds and four assists.

Alliyah Gillespie led the Wolves with 17 points, Albanellys Perez got 15 points and Ericka Thompson added 10.
