KEYSER, W.Va. — Chaunte McDowell and Hannah Henderson were an unstoppable duo Thursday evening, combining for 67 points during a 97-59 win over host Potomac State at Dana G. Lough Gymnasium.

McDowell made 15 of the Lakers’ 33 field goals and added two free throws to finish with 36 points, while Henderson added 12 field goals and made all four of her free throws to wind up at 31 points. The pair collected 27 of Garrett’s 37 field goals, but the Lakers — ranked 16th in the most recent NJCAA Division II poll — also saw double-digit scoring from Mia-Alexis Lloyd (15) and LeAsia Pennant (13).

Both teams had strong starts with a combined 60 points in the first quarter, but it was Garrett that was riding the hotter hand by opening a 35-25 lead. Both teams chilled in the second quarter as Garrett outscored the Catamounts 11-6 to take a 46-31 lead at halftime. The Lakers built a 66-41 lead by the end of the third.

Ny’Zhea Green led Potomac State with 14 points and Mary Feaster had 12. Kenzie Chrisman and Olivia Wilson had eight apiece.

Potomac State (5-4) next plays at home Saturday, against Mercyhurst North East.
