Lady Cats rally from 10-point deficit to beat Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Potomac State College received a much-needed boost from its bench Monday night as the Lady Catamounts fought back from a 10-point deficit to catch then hold off Hagerstown, 66-58, in women's junior college basketball action at Hagerstown.

Tae Payton led a balanced PSC scoring attack with 15 points, and also had five assists. Brittany Skyles scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds. Dezirea Clinton scored 13 points and had seven rebounds.

Hagerstown, which was led by Miranda Payne and Mallery Wilshard with 18 points each, broke out to a 10-point lead, but could not expand it as the PSC bench gave the Catamounts the boost head coach Jim Walton said his team was looking for.

"Our bench came in and gave us energy," said Walton. "They showed our starters what they needed to do, not so much by scoring points, but with the energy that they played with. Every time we'd get a lead, Hagerstown would battle back, and then foul; and we made our foul shots.ý

Potomac State went 14-for-17 from the free-throw line. Hagerstown, on the other hand, went 22-for-34, despite a 14-for-14 performance by Payne.

Potomac State (11-7)
will host CCAC Boyce Wednesday at 5 p.m.
