KEYSER, W.V. — Despite horrendous shooting, Potomac State was able to stay within striking distance for most of the evening before Cecil eventually overpowered the Catamounts during a 61-53 win in Keyser.
The Seahawks raced out to a 9-0 lead, but Potomac State (5-5) maintain that deficit for most of the first half with the score at halftime resting at 27-18. The Cats got as close as five points midway through the second half, but could get no closer.
Two players scored at least 10 points for the Seahawks, as Brianna Thomas put up a game-high 25 points and Shanice Smith scored 14.
Ashley Hines scored 16 points to lead a PSC offense which managed to shoot 15-for-54 on two-pointers, and 3-for-21 on three-point shots.
Hines made it a double-double by adding 15 rebounds, along with four steals, four assists and three blocks.
Brandy Robertson scored nine points, and Alexis Steele added eight for the Catamounts.
It was the first game in over a month for Potomac State, which played its last game on Dec. 11. It will play Saturday when it hosts CCAC-North at noon.
