Hines leads Lady Cats past Westmoreland

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. — Ashley Hines scored a game-high 25 points and Potomac State College used a strong second half to defeat Westmoreland County Community College 64-43 Thursday evening.

The victory makes the Catamounts 8-6 overall and 3-0 in the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference.

Hines had a double-double pulling down 16 rebounds to go with her 10 baskets and 5-of-9 shooting from the free-throw line. Teammate Brandie Robertson added 13 points with one three-pointer and she also had five steals and four assists. Alexis Steele, with PSC’s other two three-pointers, finished with seven points and Ali St. Van led the team with six steals.

After a tight first half that saw the Catamounts lead 25-22 at halftime, the team, according to head coach Jim Walton, “cut down on our turnovers and got good, quality shots” to take control of the game with a 39-21 second half.

Lauren Grose and TeQuerra Turner led Westmoreland with 10 points apiece.

Potomac State visits Butler Community College College Monday at 5 p.m.
