Potomac State falls at Chesapeake 80-59
WYE MILLS — A late first-half run spilled over into a strong second half as Chesapeake sprang from a four-point deficit with 5:00 left in the first to go on and defeat Potomac State, 80-59, Thursday at Chesapeake.
Five Chesapeake players scored in double figures, led by Rose Smith with 23 points. Denver Clyde hit for 14 points, while Ashley Jones and Sarah Oliver both scored 12 and Jennifer Carl 10.
Trailing by four with 5:00 left in the first half, Chesapeake outscored the Lady Catamounts by 18 to end the half. Potomac State would get no closer than 14 points in the second half.
Chesapeake took advantage of ample opportunity from the free-throw line, hitting 21 out of 27.
Potomac State was led by Ashley Hines with 24 points, 15 rebounds and four steals, Brandie Robertson with 15 points and five steals and Ali St. Van with 12. St.Van hit all four Potomac State three-point goals.
Potomac State (13-9) will conclude its regular season Saturday, 1 p.m., at Cecil.
