Women's Basketball: Catamounts fall to Frederick at Charm City Classic
BALTIMORE, MD — Shakena Williams hit only three field goals but scored a game-high 21 points and Jourdan Stanhope added 15 to lead Frederick Community College to a 69-62 win over Potomac State on the final day of the Charm City Classic on Sunday.
Williams did most of her damage from the foul line, where she made 13 of 18 tries. Kia Whitley and Precious Shirk had 10 points as the Cougars (6-6) won their fourth in a row.
Jenna McAtee led Potomac State with 11 points and Rachel Waibogha had 10. Morgan Wright had eight points nine rebounds for the Catamounts (1-9), who trailed 37-33 at halftime but led by as many as nine points midway through the second half. Frederick regained the lead for good with three minutes remaining.
Potomac State dropped all three of its games in the tournament. The Cats lost to Chesapeake 88-67 on Saturday and to Baltimore City 82-60 on Friday night.
On Saturday, PSC closed the gap to three points midway through the second half against Chesapeake, but was unable to get any closer.
Sidney Small hit eight three-point goals and had 28 points for the Skipjacks. Waibogha had 16 points and eight rebounds and McAtee 17 points and seven assists for Potomac State. Lindsey Miller added 13 points and Wright nine rebounds.
Friday night against Baltimore, Waibogha had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Wright had 12 points, Miller 10 and Heather Lesniowski nine points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Iman Scott poured in 30 points for Baltimore.
