Women’s Lacrosse: Lady Cats Earn First Win in Home Debut

After spending the month of March on the road, the Lady Catamounts lacrosse team (1-4) returned to Stayman Field on the campus of Potomac State College to beat Frederick Community College (2-9) Sunday, revenging an earlier loss in the season opener.

After surrendering the first goal of the game, the Catamounts scored 9 unanswered in dominating fashion to build a 9-1 halftime lead, eventually winning 13-9. The Lady Catamounts were once again unselfish, assisting on 8 of the 13 goals. Leading the Lady Cats in points was Kayla Littleton (So., Cambridge, MD.) with 3 goals and 2 assists. Kayla was followed by twins Lindsey and Savannah Chamberlain (So., Baltimore, MD.) with 3 goals and 1 assist a piece. Lindsey also had 6 draw controls at the center circle. Center, Hannah Bennett (Fr., Morgantown, WV.) also had 6 draw controls to go with her 3 goals and 1 assist. Quincy Oram (Fr., Frederick, MD.) also contributed with 1 goal and 2 assists against her hometown team while Dusti McClemens (So., Somerset, PA.) rounded out the scoring with 1 assist.

Goalie Kia Ross (Fr., Washington, DC.) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded a career high 14 saves to get her first career win. The Lady Catamounts return to action Tuesday, April 12, as they host Anne Arundel Community College at 5pm at Stayman Field.
