Women’s Lacrosse: Bernatowicz Commits with Potomac State

Keyser, WV- Hannah Bernatowicz, of Preston County High School, has joined the Potomac State Women’s Lacrosse family.

Bernatowicz is a senior goalie at Preston and after signing her letter of intent on Nov.1, she became the first women’s lacrosse player from PCHS to continue playing at the college level.

"I love the feeling of being in goal and having teammates to hang around with,” said Bernatowicz when asked about what she is looking forward to in the continuation of her lacrosse career and education, “I'm really excited to continue my education and start getting into forensics at a higher level.”

Before playing lacrosse, Bernatowicz ran track for Preston. She made the transition from track star to lacrosse goalie when her boyfriend, who is currently a goalie on the PSC Men’s Lacrosse team, began teaching her the game and training her for the position.

"It was quite the strange switch from doing track in the spring and running hurdles to taking shots in goal. But I love testing my reflexes, so being in goal was the perfect position for me,” said Bernatowicz as she spoke of her change in sport.

Bernatowicz has been to the West Virginia Women’s High School Lacrosse State Tournament two times with her team and participated in the All-Star game as a junior. Outside of athletics, she is a member of the National Honors Society with a GPA of 4.2.

Connor Brown, PSC Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach, said, "Everyone at Potomac State is very happy to kick off our 2017 recruiting class with Hannah, she'll no doubt be a solid addition to the program.”

After Bernatowicz signing on Nov. 1, Brown will continue to be on the recruiting trail for the remainder of the month.
