Lady Cats shutout Cecil 6-0

KEYSER, W.Va. — Kirsten Rayner and Allison Shaw scored two goals to lead Potomac State over Cecil College, 6-0, in women’s college soccer Wednesday at Stayman Field.
Rayner scored the first goal of the match unassisted at 3:02 of the first half. Erin Lewis followed with an unassisted goal at 13:07, before Shaw closed the first-half scoring with a pair of goals. Her first one came at 32:53 on an assist by Sara Blysma and her second one at 38:07 on an assist by Kat Ziebarth to make it 4-0 at the half.
In the second half Rayner scored at 81:56 on an assist by April Kessell. Then it was another Kessell assist at 89:14 that led to a goal by Abby Lantz to conclude the scoring.
Potomac State outshot Cecil, 11-3, and had 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Elana Nappi had three saves in goal for Potomac State. Cecil’s Amber Durdtler had six.
Potomac State (7-4) will play again Sunday, 1 p.m., at Keyser High against Montgomery-Rockville.
