Women’s Soccer: Rayner, Turley power PSC’s rout

CORNING, N.Y. — Kirsten Rayner scored two goals and assisted on two more to lead Potomac State College to a 7-0 victory over Corning (N.Y.) Community College on Sunday.

The Catamounts broke the game open with five second-half goals.

Potomac State took a 1-0 lead on the first of two Morgan Turley goals at 6:12. Hannah Rezutek game PSC a 2-0 halftime lead on Talia Logsdon’s assist at 15:17.

Turley’s second goal opened the second-half scoring at 52:22. Rayner, a former standout at Northern Garrett, assisted on both to Turley’s goals.

Rayner then scored twice in a three-minute span. Her first goal, assisted by Rezutek, came and 54:09 and then Tonya Perez set up her next one at 57:08 that gave the Catamounts a 5-0 lead.

Ashley Parker’s unassisted goal came at 60:50 and Rebecca Strawn, on an assist from Gracie Parzych, closed the game at 81:11.

The Catamounts dominated with a 20-5 margin in shots on goal and 11-3 in corner kicks.

Corning’s Kirstin Emmert made 13 saves while Alana Nappi stopped three and Brooke Fink two for Potomac State.

Whitney Ogle and Cara Berryman excelled defensively for PSC.

Potomac State (7-1) visits Westmoreland County Community College on Tuesday.
