Women’s Soccer: Rockville rolls to 5-2 win; ends Potomac State season

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery-Rockville scored the first five goals — four in the first half — to conclude Potomac State College’s season in a 5-2 quarterfinal victory in the Region XX women’s soccer tournament Thursday at Rockville.

Ana Cordon scored the first and the fourth goal of the first half, the first unassisted and the second one assisted by Julia Mendonca, to sandwich unassisted goals by Mendonca and Taryn Melencio.

Jana Catuche scored unassisted at 72:27 in the second half to make it 5-0 before Potomac State put two on the board. Brittany Foster scored unassisted for the Catamounts at 85:01, and Kirsten Rayner scored at 87:22 on an assist by Gracie Parzych.

Rockville outshot Potomac State, 11-4, while both teams had one corner kick. In goal, Alana Nappy had seven saves for PSC and Brooke Fink one. Leke Fontana and Leslie Rivera both had one for Rockville.

Potomac State concludes its season with a 12-5 record.
