Potomac State Women’s Soccer added another local standout, signing Shannon Warnick from Northern Garrett High School. Warnick, a defensive star, inked her letter of intent to play for the Catamounts in last week’s signing ceremony.  She sports a long list of honors including: First Team All-Area, All-AMAC, Team MVP, Northern Garrett Player of the Month, and Garrett Girls Soccer, Defensive Player of the Year.

Warnick has been a four year starter for the Huskies for several years and is also a standout student, something in which her parents, James and Joann Warnick of Grantsville, are very proud. When asked why Potomac State, she replied, “It’s a local college that offers a great academic and athletic environment.” Potomac State Head Coach, Mark Sprouse added, “The coaching staff and I are very excited to have Shannon join the team, she’s one of the players we really wanted.  Not only does Shannon bring speed, power, skill and experience to the table. She is an intense competitor and that’s what really equates to success at this level.”

Warnick follows in the footsteps former Northern soccer star Kristen Rayner, who was a two-year starter, all-region, and was recently named Potomac State Female Athlete of the Year for the Lady Cats.
