Women’s Soccer: Bussard's hat trick powers PSC's 5-1 win

Catamounts improve to 9-0-1

KEYSER, W.Va. — Kylie Bussard had a hat trick and assisted on another goal as unbeaten Potomac State scored three goals in the second half to pull away from Anne Arundel 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Stayman Field.

Bussard scored the Catamounts first three goals, two in the first half. Her first came on a penalty kick with 22:48 to play before halftime and her second was unassisted at the 12:39 mark that gave Potomac State the 2-0 lead at the break.

She scored on assist by Kezia Butcher at 54:32 for the 3-0 lead.

Anna Arundel (8-4) pulled to within two on Bailey Foust’s penalty kick at 66:51.

Rochelle Daniels gave the Catamounts their three-goal cushion a minute later on Butcher’s second assist at 67.39.

Butcher then scored on Bussard’s assist with three and a half minutes to play.

“It was a tough defensive battle,” said Potomac State head coach Mark Sprouse, who highlighted Tessa Mulledy and Faith Sentelle for their defensive performance.

Potomac State led in shots on goal, 14-12, but trailed Anne Arundel in corner kicks, 5-4.

The Catamounts’ Brooke Sndyer made 11 saves while Anne Arundel’s Deanna Valerien stopped nine.

Potomac State (9-0-1) will host Cecil on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
