Women’s Soccer: Catamounts remain undefeated

KEYSER, W.V. — Rochelle Daniels scored a pair of goals and assisted another one, and a lot of players got involved as the Potomac State College women’s soccer team stayed undefeated with a 5-1 win over Cecil Wednesday at Stayman Field.

The Catamounts took a 2-0 halftime lead when Kylie Bussard scored at 32:49 and Daniels at 39:39, with Bussard being assisted by Kourtney Dalzell and Daniels’ goal going unassisted.

Dalzell made it 3-0 at 51:31 in the second half, unassisted, before Daniels scored again at 53:02 on an assist by Brooke Puffenbarger.

Cecil got on the board on a penalty kick by Jamika Pugh at 54:09, before PSC’s Brittany Maphis scored on an assist by Daniels at 83:22 to close the scoring.

The Cats outshot Cecil, 20-5, while both teams had four corner kicks. Brooke Snyder had three saves and Dymonet Redman had one for Potomac State, and Kira Toro had 15 for Cecil. Penny Summers and Maddie Miller turned in outstanding defensive games for Potomac State.

Potomac State (10-0-1) will visit Montgomery, the No. 4 team in the nation, Saturday at 2 p.m.
