Women’s Soccer: Catamounts fall to No.2 ranked Montgomery; Open Region XX Tourney on Friday

ROCKVILLE — Martha Mulugeta and Alejandra Ramos both scored twice, leading No. 2 Montgomery over Potomac State on Saturday afternoon. It was the Catamounts’ first loss of the season.

Ramos assisted Nathaly Alvear on the opening goal at the 7:58 mark before Mulugeta opened her scoring account less than six minutes later.

Brittany Maphis scored an unassisted goal at the 15:08 mark to bring the Catamounts within one. Montgomery held its 2-1 lead through the remainder of the first half.

Mulugeta put the score at 3-1 1:11 into the second half. Ramos scored the next two goals for Montgomery and Claire Couturier scored the final goal with just over one minute to play.

The Raptors led in shots (15-6) and corner kicks (7-4). Brooke Snyder made nine saves in goal for the Catamounts.

Potomac State finishes the regular season at 10-1-1. Its first playoff game will be held on Friday at Howard.
