Whetzel's record day leads Potomac State's win

PURCELLVILLE, VA. - Kacee Whetzel broke a Potomac State College record by scoring five goals, and the Catamounts scored a total of five second half goals to pull away from Patrick Henry 8-3 Tuesday evening.
Whetzel's five goals passed the previous mark of four in a single game, and were the first five of the game for the Cats. Her first was at 37:44 assisted by Shannon Fine, and the second was unassisted at 31:56. Caroline Sanner assisted the last PSC goal of the first half, and Lindsay Jenkins assisted on the first goal of the second.
Lauren Trenter, Sanner and Carly Drake scored the final three PSC points on unassisted goals. Trenter had seven saves, and Jessica Elliott had two splitting time in the Catamounts goal.
It was the final regular season game for Potomac State, which finishes 5-3-1. The Cats will begin play in the Region XX Tournament at Anne Arundel on Saturday when they face Howard at 3 p.m. |
