Mining for talent: Potomac State signs Mountain Ridge stars Ferree, McGinnis

By Michael Minnich - Mineral Daily News-Tribune Sports Editor mminnich@newstribune.info

KEYSER, WV - An integral part of the Mountain Ridge Lady Miners' perfect regular season last year as co-captains, Danielle McGinnis and Corrie Ferree will continue to wear the same colors, signing letters of intent to join the Potomac State Lady Catamounts for this fall.

"We're tickled to death to have Danielle. She'll be on both sides of the ball," said PSC head coach Mark Sprouse.

McGinnis scored ten goals and dished out five assists last fall for the Lady Miners, who posted a 14-0-0 mark in the regular season.

"As a true central midfielder, Danielle may allow us to finally play a 4-3-3 formation," said Sprouse.
"I'm excited about the opportunity. Hopefully I can bring something to the team,"
said McGinnis.
"Danielle is a true holding midfielder," said assistant coach Donnie Amann. "That's what makes teams go."

Ferree, coming off of a six-goal, six-assist senior campaign, is expected to be a key goal-scorer for Sprouse.

"She brings speed, finesse, and scoring," the PSCcoach said.  "She looks to be our go-to player on the offensive end."

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to play college soccer," Ferree said.

Both players were four-year varsity players in high school.
