Lady Cats Soccer falls to Rockville 3-1

ROCKVILLE, MD  — Sara Basma scored a goal in each half, but Montgomery-Rockville, the No. 4 team in NJCAA Division III, then pulled away from Potomac State during a 3-1 win over the Catamounts Saturday in women’s JUCO soccer.

Anna Belanos scored the first goal on an assist from Hiba El-Kalah 6:15 into the opening half, and Basma scored the second goal with Balanos assisting.

Potomac State sliced into the lead six minutes into the second half when Laurel Podlesnik scored unassisted.

The Knights added the insurance goal six minutes later when Basma scored unassisted.

The Catamounts (9-3) were outshot by a 17-5 margin, and trailed in corner kicks 5-2.

Lindsay Stidom (seven saves) and Acasha Smith (six) combined for 13 saves for Potomac State. Tiffany Wilson made three saves as the winning goalie.
