Potomac State Women's Soccer falls in Region XX Final

COLUMBIA — Montgomery-Rockville, the fourth-ranked team in NJCAA Division III, scored two goals in each half and held Potomac State to two shots as the Knights shut out the Catamounts 4-0 Sunday during the Region XX finals at Howard Community College.

Sonia Basma and Anna Belanas scored the first half goals, with Basma going unassisted at 28:09 and Belanas being assisted by Barbara Mansky at 1:47.

The Knights doubled the lead in the second half when Zulia Menjibar scored unassisted at 30:13 and Mansky scored on a penalty kick at 16:10.

Rockville outshot PSC
20-2, and finished with a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. The Catamounts used two goalies with Acasha Smith making 15 stops before Lindsay Stidom entered and made one save.

Potomac State had three players selected to the All-Region XX
Tournament Team: Sophomores Chynna Kiser and Lauren Filer, and freshman Sadey Crooks. Filer is a former standout at Mountain Ridge.

The trip to the final marks the first time that Potomac State has traveled that deep into the postseason. The Cats finish the season with an 11-4 record.
