Softball: Catamounts roll to sweep over Beaver County



MONACA, Pa. — Potomac State combined for 20 runs and pounded out 17 hits in each game in sweeping a Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference doubleheader at  Community College  of Beaver County on Tuesday by scores of 8-0 and 10-2.

In the opener, Taylor Rice hit a three-run homer in the fifth for Potomac State and also singled twice. Morgan Wright doubled and tripled, while Erica Doyle singled and tripled. Karisa Saville doubled and tripled.

Sydney Ouzts went the distance to get the win, giving up four hits while striking out five without a walk.

In the second game, Saville hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning for the Catamounts and also doubled in three more runs. Rice went 5 for 5 with four  singles  and a triple, while Savannah Hose singled three times.

Kendra Hardesty went all seven for the win, striking out eight and walking three. Both Beaver runs were unearned.

Potomac State (8-2) will host CCAC-South for a pair today at 3 p.m.
