Softball: Potomac State hands Chesapeake their first loss

KEYSER, W.V. — Chesapeake entered a doubleheader with Chesapeake ranked 19th in the country and carrying a undefeated, 26-0, record, but left Keyser with their first loss of the season after the Catamounts split a doubleheader with the Skipjacks Thursday afternoon.

Potomac State blemished the Jacks record with a 6-5 win after Chesapeake won 12-7 in the opener.

The Cats scored five runs in the third inning to a take a 6-4 that Meghan Anderson followed with four innings in which she allowed just one run to earn the win.

Britani Chambers tore into a three-run home run that gave her team the lead, and Taylor Rice had a double and a single. Erica Doyle singled twice.

In the first game, Savannah Hose smacked a three-run home run and hit two doubles, but the Cats lost by five. Rice added a triple and a single, and Megan Wright came up with two singles.

Potomac State moves to 17-3 and plays again today when it hosts a doubleheader with Catonsville at 3 p.m.
