KEYSER, W.V. — Britani Chambers and Shayna Vetter homered to lead Potomac State to a 7-5 win and a split of a doubleheader.
Frederick built a big early lead and won the second game 10-5.
In the opener, Chambers hit a solo home run in the first inning, but Potomac State trailed 3-1 until scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth. Vetter’s homer, a tworun shot, came in the big inning.
Vetter also singled and Ashley Cain and Sydney Ouzts had two singles for the Catamounts. Mariah Martin scattered seven hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter for a complete-game win.
In the second game, Rachel Buerhle had two singles and escaped several jams in going the distance for the win for the Cougars, who led 8-1 after three innings.
Whitley Mongan had three singles for Potomac State, which stranded 14 base runners and left the bases loaded twice. The Cats had seven hits, three batters hit by pitches and received seven bases on balls.
