Vetter homers twice in Potomac State split with Cecil

NORTHEAST, MD — Shayna Vetter homered in both games and finished the day with five hits and five RBIs to help Potomac State to a split of a doubleheader at Cecil.

After dropping the opener 14-5, the Catamounts roared back in the night-cap, taking the lead with a four-run first inning and keeping it the rest of the way to win 7-3. Vetter had a two-run single in the four run first and a solo homer in the seventh. She finished with a homer and two singles.

Whitley Mongan and Meghan Anderson doubled and singled, and Sam Hoban had two singles for the Catamounts. Mariah Martin scattered six hits for the win.

Potomac State had 12 hits in each game. In the opener, Vetter smacked a two-run homer and a single, while Anderson doubled and singled and Mongan and Alyssa Whitacre singled twice.

Michelle Coyle belted two doubles and three singles for Cecil, which led 5-4 before scoring nine runs in the last two innings.

Potomac State (8-8) plays again Tuesday at Hagerstown.
