KEYSER, W.Va. — Shayna Vetter’s three-run homer in the first inning matched perfectly with her two-hit shutout of Southern Maryland in the first half of a doubleheader that Potomac State swept Saturday in Keyser.

Vetter allowed two singles and the Catamounts had nine hits on their way to an 8-0 win to start the day before following that with a 16-2 domination that improved PSC’s record to 24-9.

The Cats scored four times in the first inning with the help of Vetter’s home run and took a 6-0 lead in the second inning. They scored the final two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Sam Hoban drove in two with two singles, with Beth Cook and Josie Clark adding two singles apiece.

Potomac State scored two runs in the first inning and took a commanding lead with eight more in the second inning of game two. The Hawks scored twice in the third inning, but the Cats countered with five of their own in the bottom half.

Chelsea Shepherd and Beth Cook powered the team through the first two innings with Shepherd hitting a three-run bomb in the second and Cook a two-run shot in the first. Cook had three RBIs altogether by adding a single. Hoban drove in three runs with two singles and Christina Collins knocked in two with a double and a triple.
