KEYSER, W.V. — Two solo home runs helped Potomac State squeeze out a win in the first half of a doubleheader, but Chesapeake was able to force a split by edging the Catamounts in the second half Sunday afternoon.

Shayna Vetter and Beth Cook homered to lead the Cats (12-7) to a 3-2 victory with Vetter going deep in the second and Cook breaking a 2-2 tie with a homer in the sixth. Cook drove in the first run with a double in the bottom of the first.

Danica Rogers got four strikeouts and allowed five hits in a complete game victory.

The Skipjacks outhit the Cats 8-5 to bounce back and force the split, getting a home run and a single from Brooke Wills.

Vetter drove in PSC’s run with a double in the second, scoring Chelsea Shepherd, who singled earlier in the inning.

Potomac State plays again today in a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Westmoreland.
