Softball: PSC's Rodgers no-hits Garrett

MCHENRY, MD — Danica Rodgers fired a no-hitter with a dozen strikeouts to give Potomac State the opener before the Cats scored 13 runs in the final two innings to finish a sweep of Garrett Wednesday afternoon.

Rodgers allowed just one base runner in six innings of work and her offense spotted her five runs in the top of the first of what turned out to be an 8-0 win. Her high school teammate Beth Cook pitched the final three innings of a 17-2 win that improves the Catamounts to 14-4.

Cook whipped up a double and two singles, Ruby Fridley a double and a single, and Abby Doyka singled twice as PSC piled up 11 hits in the shutout victory.

The Cats topped that hit total in the second game by collecting 17, led by Christina Collina and Kendall Keplinger with home runs. Keplinger added a pair of singles to her home run, while Cook had three more hits — two doubles and a single. Alyssa Jones gave the Cats a double and two singles.

Garrett’s Lexi Nicklin, Nicole Snyder and Rebecca Younkin all had two singles.
