Softball: PSC sweeps Westmoreland with a pair of shutouts

KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac State received a pair of five-inning pitching gems from Beth Cook and Danica Rogers on its way to a pair of 8-0 wins over Westmoreland Community College Wednesday afternoon at PSC.

Kendall Keplinger hit a solo home run and a single for Potomac State in the opener, while Chelsea Shepherd singled and doubled. Ruby Fridley and Abbie Doyka both singled twice.

Cook pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout for the Lady Catamounts, striking out four and allowing no walks in the opener.

Josie Clark and Christina Collins both hit solo home runs for the Lady Cats in the second game, while Keplinger knocked in four runs with two singles and a double.

Rogers gave up just one hit, did not allow a walk and struck out seven. The lone Westmoreland hit came in the fifth inning, a single by Arison.

Potomac State (24-6) will play a doubleheader on Friday at Chesapeake, the No. 1 team in Region XX. The Lady Catamounts are No. 2 in the region.
