Softball: Potomac State sweeps ACM

KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac State relied on the crooked-numbered innings in both games to hand Allegany College a 5-3, 5-1 doubleheader sweep Thursday at Potomac State.

In the opener, the Catamounts scored three in the third and two in the fifth to take advantage of Kadi Cosgrove’s complete-game, one-run six-hitter. Sierra Farris knocked in two runs with a pair of singles for Potomac State, while Megan Newcomb and Jordyn Munson both had two singles to knock in a run and score a run. 

For Allegany, Kacy Blevins hit a two-run homer in the seventh, and also singled. Makenzie Eshelman singled and scored a run, and Cheyane Rice doubled.

In the second game, Kayla Stickley and Jordyn Munson both hit home runs for Potomac State, with Stickley also singling. Abby Gillingham doubled.

Kadie Morral singled, doubled and scored a run for Allegany.

Munson pitched the complete-game four-hitter to gain the win for PSC.

Potomac State (9-5) will host Southern Maryland Sunday at noon and 2 p.m.
