Softball: Potomac State dominates Westmoreland with pitching

Cosgrove fires no-hitter, Harrington two-hitter in sweep

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. — Kadi Cosgrove fired a no-hitter in the first game and homered   in   support of Makenah   Harrington, who tossed a two-hitter in the second as Potomac State overpowered Westmoreland County, 11-0 and 17-1, Wednesday afternoon   at Westmoreland.

Cosgrove, a freshman from Hyndman, Pennsylvania, struck out the side in the first, second, third and seventh innings, and finished with 17 strikeouts and only one walk, which kept it from being a perfect game.

Only four batters made contact, one being an infield popup and the other three fly outs to left field.

Cosgrove smacked two doubles and a single, Carly Nixon tripled and singled and Abby Gillingham doubled   and singled for Potomac State, which had 13   hits.

In the nitecap, Harrington allowed only two hits, struck out eight and walked none in a five-inning complete game.

Cosgrove belted a home run and had a single. Morgan Basye doubled and singled twice for the Catamounts, who scored seven runs in the second and third innings.

Potomac State (19-11) plays a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Frederick today.
